What is FrontPage Extensions?

The FrontPage Server Extensions are a set of programs on a Web server that let you administer, author, and browse a FrontPage-based Web -- a structure containing all of the pages, images, subdirectories, and other files that make up a Web site.

How do I publish my site with FrontPage?

Here, we describe basic file uploading ("publishing") instructions. For more detailed information, consult the FrontPage help files, or the Microsoft web site.

When you open FrontPage, the first window to open is "Getting Started". Select "My New Web", or another name (if you previously set the configuration). Click on "OK" and FrontPage will connect to the server and list the contents of your web site according to the "view" you have selected. At this point you are able to make any necessary changes, or if everything is correct, begin publishing.

To Publish, click on the "Publish" button located near the top left of the main FrontPage window. Another window will open prompting you for the location you wish to publish your web to. The default may be along the lines of http://username/copy_of_myweb. If this is the case, change the entry to reflect only your domain name (yourdomain.com). Click on "OK".

You will be prompted for a username and password - these are your web site account username and password. Enter them and click "OK". FrontPage will then begin publishing (uploading to the web server) the files that make up your web site.
